316 Grade Stainless Steel Properties and Uses

What is Stainless 316 Quality?

It is a kind of stainless steel obtained by adding molybdenum and extra nickel into 316 quality stainless steel.

It is distinguished from other types of stainless steel by:

  • Excellent corrosion resistance.
  • Pitting corrosion resistance is also quite good.
  • It is very resistant to temperature with the addition of Mo.
  • Even in harsh conditions, exposure to seawater and acidic liquids, corrosion resistance is excellent.
  • Tensile strength is much better compared to 304 grade stainless steels.

Usage areas

Seawater equipment, equipment used in chemicals, paper, paint, acetic acid, fertilizer, photographic and food industry, marine constructions, ropes, rods, bolts and nuts are also widely used.
